Backing up individual documents or other important files is not difficult and it takes about a minute to complete the operation, but it is a different matter if you have too much information which you can't afford to lose. Although they are efficient, traditional backup applications leave much to be desired when it comes to backing up an entire partition or the operating system. Tenorshare Data Backup is capable of cloning an entire hard disk, along with the operating system and everything it needs to work. The entire operation involves only a few clicks, so it can be performed by anyone, from experts to novice users.

Tenorshare Data Backup is free to try with some limitations. It takes less than a minute to install the software and you can use it on Windows XP or any later edition, up to Windows 8. It doesn't ask for powerful hardware and you don't have to meet any special requirements.

The program's supported operations are presented on a compact user interface, along with colored icons and short descriptions. You can choose to copy an entire hard disk to another hard disk, a specific partition to another partition. Alternatively, you can store a copied disk or partition as an image file, on another partition. You can also find options for restoring a disk or partition from an image file.

All you have to do is select one of the aforementioned operations and the program will guide you with step-by-step instructions, just like a wizard. Preparing a backup task does not involve anything more than selecting a source and a destination. In certain cases, you may need to go through an extra step, but only to select an option, by clicking a radio button.

Besides backing up hard disks or partitions, the software can also create bootable CDs, DVDs or USB drives. You can switch to this mode by clicking an option in a pop-up menu, in the upper right corner of the interface. You only need to select a disc drive or a plugged in USB and click a button and the program will do the rest. In addition, Tenorshare Data Backup provides detailed instructions for booting the computer with a bootable disc or USB stick.

Pros

You can back up individual partitions or the entire hard disk. The software provides step-by-step instructions, which make any operation easy and straightforward. Tenorshare Data Backup can also create bootable discs or USB drives.

Cons

Most features are locked in the trial version. With Tenorshare Data Backup, your operating system and all important data will stay safe, even in the event of a critical hard disk failure.
